I'm Feeling Old Man Winter!
What a bizzarre weather trend we've just experienced. Warm temps, heavy rain, thunder, lightning, and tornados just north of us. All this taking place on November 22, very uncommon. Yesterday we reached 65 degrees and now it is 28, how does it manage to drop 37 degrees in such a short time? Anyway, we did receive some much needed rain, things were very dry. In fact we've been dry since right after labor day, very minimal amounts of natural rain fall which again is very uncommon for our area during this time of year. All in all we received .60" of rain throughout yesterday morning and last night. The day did clear up though to allow us to tackle some tasks. We began our dormant fertilizer applications in the rough as well as the approaches. Leaf cleanup and mulching still continues and will continue like I said till the snow blankets the ground. Today, when the ground thaw's out which may be awhile we'll try and spray approaches if it isn't too windy as well as tackle some fairways. Fairways are the last areas we need to spray for our winter protection, then it is a matter of topdressing and applying the covers to the greens. Heat us up sun so we can get out on the course!
