Other than snow plowing we've been busy refinishing fairway yardage plates. The guys have sanded them down, primed them, and are now putting a fresh coat of paint back on them. Antonio Vargas has been busy with tune ups on all the equipment. Tune ups include oil changes, greasing bearings and moving parts, as well as inspecting the piece for further maintenance. Today Antonio is beginning to replace the bedknives on the fairway mower reels. Bench legs were sent out for sanding and painting today. Over the years the legs have just had layer upon layer of paint put on them so it was time to blast them clean. A big project for the fall is refinishing the benches to where they are almost new. All boards on the benches are being replaced this season and with the newly painted legs they'll look as good as new for about a third of the cost of new ones.
Later in the week they are calling for a warm up and possible rain. Wednesday and Thursday we'll be getting out on the course to create water run areas on the greens so that melting snow and rain have avenues to escape the greens surface instead of creating a great deal of standing water.
Things keep moving along and I'll continue to keep you posted while things proceed. Hope everyone is doing well.
