A Couple of Great Articles by the USGA

This is an article by Superintendent Jason Booth at New Haven Country Club.  They recently went through a similar process as to what we are here at Briarwood.  Some differences that I'd like to point out though is their decision not to fumigate their greens.  Jason points out that the decision not to do such a process could come back to haunt them in Poa regermination.  Another difference is they chose to strip the greens and sod the greens.  Their window of time was short to carry out the project.  When anyone has the opportunity to grow turf in by seed they will take that option as it helps the plant mature better and creates for quality surface at a quicker rate.  Sodding requires a great deal of maintenance after it is laid, such maintenance practices like aerfication are carried out frequently to break through the sod layer and to try and get the roots to establish themselves in the existing soil.  Just thought I'd point out a few of the differences from their project to ours, here's the article:  http://turf.lib.msu.edu/gsr/article/booth-regrassing-2-18-11.pdf
