Here is a video regarding contamination of our bunkers. These high face bunkers always washout when we experience heavy rains. Once that sand has washed down the soil is exposed and then that soil begins to wash as well. Soil is mixed with the sand increasing the water holding capacity and compromising the playability and composition of our sand. We'll never be able to completely eliminate bunkers from washing out the way they are designed, all we can do is adjust our maintenance practices to help reduce the amount of soil that is getting mixed in with the sand. A method of doing such task is to skim the surface following rain events to remove soil and silt at the top of the sand.
