Well back to the frigid tundra here at Briarwood. After such a gorgeous day yesterday the spirits were high, but they've diminished again with this artic spell. I'm embelishing here a little as it is at least 40 degrees but barely. The week has been pretty good. Lots of tasks have been completed and now just playing a bit of catch up before the rain moves in tomorrow and over the weekend.
Drainage on 10 that I posted earlier in the week was wrapped up yesterday. Nathan and his crew did great job on the bunkers and finished up yesterday. Spraying fairways and tees to suppress Poa seedheads was wrapped up as well. The last big task we wrapped up was the 1st mowing of the rough.
Today we're tackling more mowing with greens, approaches, and fairways. Detail tasks are at hand with cleaning up flower beds, mulching newly planted trees and shrubs, and plugging some bad areas on the greens.
We keep moving along with a reduced staff and things are looking great. Looking through pictures since I've been on staff here at Briarwood the course has never been this green this early. I'm hoping this is a sign of a great season! Stay warm!!!!
