Recovery

The kick off to summer weekend has come and gone.  Unfortunately conditions for the last day of the holiday weekend weren't the best but the weather definitely shaped up.  Temperatures were near 90 with some warm winds out of the south helping dry out some of the water that laid throughout the golf course.

Today is a big day for us as well as the next few trying to get caught up.  A big priority at the moment is getting down all of our fungicide applications to protect our turf from disease.  Large amounts of moisture along with humidity and heat create a very conducive environment for disease to develop and grow.  With all the rain we have been receiving we haven't been able to get out to spray in quite sometime so we'll have a busy next two days getting greens, tees, approaches, and fairways sprayed.

Mowing is the next major priority as we are well behind.  We've had to go through to adjust all mowing heights up so that we don't cut off to much leaf tissue, creating a scalping effect.  Rough is by all means the most out of control and we'll slowly work our way back down to 2.5".  I imagine it will take us 2-3 mowing's before we are able to get back down to that height.  Mowers will be running all day long and into the early evening hours with the same on Wednesday and Thursday.

We greatly appreciate everybody's understanding and patience during this past week or should I say last month.  The spring definitely hasn't been an enjoyable one on the weather stand point as well as the maintenance end.  Just as we seem to be getting caught up and things are getting into shape we get hit with another blast of wet and cold weather setting everything back.  Hopefully with the extended forecast those days are behind us and we can concentrate now and good conditions and great golf for the next two months before Phase II.
