Season Closing

As of today the golf course will be closed until spring opening in 2012.  Extended weather outlook goes to show winter is fast approaching and we are wrapping up last minute tasks so we're prepared.  Today we began placing covers on the greens and this will go on through tomorrow.  Covers are being put in place for insulation of the new greens but most for that added spring warmup when it comes around.  This will be the last time any covers will be place on the greens as covers also promote the growth of Poa Annua, the one turf we did the project to to eradicate.  Studies show that with fumigation you are safe with covering during the first winter but after that you increase your chances of becoming infested with Poa.  Once covers are done we have a few more trees to finish planting along with dormant fertlizer applications in the rough.  After the fertlizer is down the curtain will be pulled on the 2011 season.  Winter maintenance tasks will begin to take place following and we will keep you posted on work as it is done.
