Tribune Article

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-06-23/news/ct-met-drought-illinois-20120622_1_dry-weeks-dry-conditions-dry-weather

Attached is a recent article in the Chicago Tribune.  Basically what the article says is that we are in a drought and not looking to escape from it anytime soon.  Moisture management has been on high alert now for the last month as rainfall has been very scarce here at BCC.  In the last 4 weeks we've had 2 rain events only amounting to about 2".  With the dry winter, spring, and now start to summer things are going to get interesting.  This season is far from what we've experienced in the last few years.  The last few seasons have been hot and overly wet, this season hot and overly dry.  I prefer the dry as having dry conditions reduces disease stress.  I will go on record to say, "if we don't receive some natural moist here anytime soon, areas that don't receive irrigation will be going dormant".  Dormancy = brown color but not dead.

So lets hope that we can get some rain here sometime!
