Busy Calendar

June is getting ready to close as we enter the busy part of the season.  Over the last few weeks we've played host to JUF Day and our 2nd annual 2 day Member/Guest.  Weather didn't cooperate the best but, fortunately the events were carried out and were a success.  We've continued to be bothered by Mother Nature.  June by far has not been the most accommodating for golf; cool and wet weather has dominated.  Hopefully we see a shift into July as we have a string of events in the near future.  July we see Men's and Ladies Guest Day, private Monday outings, and Challenge Cup at the end of the month.

We continue to manage maintaining the golf course despite the weather.  One rain event did really set us back and that was the Monday prior to JUF Day where we saw 3" of rain.  Our Grounds crew continues to take great pride in what they do for the golf course, hopefully you see that out there.  Briarwood has become a destination; a club with a friendly atmosphere and one of the best conditioned golf courses in Chicago.  Throughout the remainder of the summer season we'll continue to put a majority of our focus on conditioning and maintaining the course.  Small projects will be tossed in here and there but minimal disruption is our main goal.  Over the next few weeks you'll see us doing some maintenance in our newly seeded fescue areas.  These areas will be mowed down and sprayed with herbicides to control some of the weedy grasses and weeds that came back.  This will help give more space for fescue to establish and flourish.

Other than that, enjoy your time here at Briarwood and I'll finish with a few photos taken from our drone.

Putting Green, 1st, 9th, and 10th holes.

Nice photo of the 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th holes.
