Catch Up!

Today will be a day of catch up for the Grounds and Greens crew.  Sunday evenings rains prevented us from mowing anything yesterday.  Right now the crew is out getting the golf course prepared for play after the ladies opening breakfast.  Mowing of greens, tees, approaches, and fairways.  After they finish with these mowing tasks the crew will begin tackling the rough.  There will be a few long days with the rough machines trying to get caught up especially with the extended forecast showing rain the next two days.

Carts are being let out today but we ask that everyone please be careful.  Keep carts in the fairways and utilize the cart paths around the tees and greens.

My morning ride shows some good seeding results.  A great deal of the areas we hit with the rough seeder is starting to show some growth:
You can see some small seedlings starting to pop through the soil here in this photo.  This area is still a bit sparse but other areas on the course has a great deal of seed coming through the surface.

Fairway areas are also starting to show some growth from the aerification and seeding we did.  All these areas were damage from winter.  These are low spots that hold water and eventually freeze each year.  Added drainage is the remedy for this problem and we will begin addressing these spots this fall.  Here's a photo of some fairway seed coming up:

More warm days and some added fertilizer will help these areas fill in faster.

Just a quick morning bit as I enjoyed seeing the progress made on the rough and fairway areas.
Have a great day!
