Positive Results

Heavy rains over the weekend showed positive results with our new bunkers!  Since the bunker project began we haven't really had a rain to give us a good test.  This past Saturday and Sunday we received 1.1" of rain and sometimes it came down heavy.  I myeself was out of town over the weekend but Moe and Nathan gave me rave reviews on the 36 bunkers that are completed.  Bunkers drained very well and the sand did as expected and held it place.  There are a few areas that we see some more work is needed but they are very minor.  These areas are low spots where surface water actually runs into the bunker causing the sand to slide a bit.  I am ecstatic though on how the sand and new developed bunkers performed!  This will save our crew so much time that was spent on pushing sand up after heavy and even small rains.  Here are a few photos I took this evening when I went for a ride around the course.

7 Green side bunker after 1" of rain.  Very happy to see the sand held its place on the slope by the bunker.  This is one bunker that would be in terrible shape following a rain.

10 Green side bunker, again illustrating how the sand held to the face.

16 fairway bunker after the heavy rains.

16 Green side bunker.  Again this is another bunker that would be a mess following rains.

9 right green side bunker after we have done some work on the sand ourselves to level and make consistent.
