Saturday Fert App

A few weeks back we carried out our dormant 21-0-0 AMS application to our fairways. There were a great deal of questions that came with this application, questions like:
Why on a Saturday?
Why no carts being allowed?
In the notice to the membership, reasoning was given for both these questions. Saturday was chosen due to the paddle court construction being done and the availability to access the Grounds facility. Along with that, was our judgement that by the second weekend in November we'd be seeing inadequate weather for golf. Well, we were wrong on the weather so some decisions had to be made. Since the application is done by an outside contractor we had to proceed, plus this had to be done while our irrigation was still in operation for the year. I made the decision to not allow carts as we ran the risk of streaking due to the cart traffic. As I rode through the course today I took an interesting photo, this photo is of streaking caused by pull carts used that day. Imagine now how the fairways would look had we allowed carts out, we'd have streaks all over them. The decision helped protect the application and the turf. Included here is that photo which shows the faint tracks from the pull carts.
