A few years back the decision was made to lower the mound to the back left of the 13th green. This mound was initially created when the pond was dug and the decision was made not to haul material too far. The mound may have had some relevance in aesthetics but had negative effects on environmental conditions. Poor air movement was a result of this mound, the 13th green has a hard enough micro climate, but made even worse when this southwest side was blocked by the mound.
We've been working on this task now for the last week and a half and great progress is being made. Last week I showed the removal of the sod, now is the removal of the actual material. First was the initial scraping of the topsoil, this is set aside to use for finished layer prior to sod.
Topsoil was removed on Tuesday and now we're working on the clay. Some of this clay we will use for the raising of the north side of the irrigation pond, the remainder we are still spitballing ideas. Included are photos of the work being done.
