Whew, It's Cold!

Cool air has returned to the area, large difference from yesterday. How is it there can be an almost 40 degree high temperature change? Our adventure through the course on Monday show more signs of ice melt except for areas encased by trees. As mentioned in a previous post, snow and ice are remaining on greens where we have tree coverage to the east and the south. During winter the sun doesn't climb as high in the sky so shade from trees close and a bit far from greens is more intense. I'll be attaching photos at the end of this post to illustrate this. The green still completely covered in snow is the 3rd hole, the green partially covered in snow/ice is the 2nd(notice how the thawed side is more open to sunlight), then the free of ice greens are the 5th where we did substantial tree work during greens project, as well as the 7th and 8th holes which face more southern.
We are looking to return to our winter pruning this week as the ground has become more stable. The roller coaster temperatures created a bit of a soft upper surface of the ground, not stable for equipment. We have about 4 more days remaining in out winter pruning budget.

3 green still solid snow cover with a little ice.  Due to surrounding environment.

2 green with ice on the left side while the right is clear.  Reasoning behind this is that to the back of the green and left there are more trees preventing sunlight while the right is more open.

5 green free and clear of winter elements.  Tree removal during greens project was a success in getting more light to this green.

7 green, really never an issue with ice or snow on this green as it faces south and gets plenty of sun.

8 green, similar to 7 faces south and gets plenty of sun, plus our surface changes helps water exit the green.
