Whew it's Warm

The remainder of the week is very conducive for disease activity along with bentgrass decline.  High daytime temperatures but most importantly high nightly temperatures will create great stress.  Night is a time for turf to respire and rebuild itself for the next day, when night temps are above 70 degrees it makes that feat a bit more challenging.  That will be the case tonight and the next 3 evenings.
Proactive measures are always put in place.  Yesterday fungicide applications were done for disease prevention, as well as to cure some that had started.  Today we have brought out fans and place at the 6th and 13th greens to increase air movement to help aid in plant respiration.  As the next few days go by we'll be very diligent with water, extra moisture is like adding fuel to a fire.  Watering for the most part to greens, approaches, tees, and fairways will be done by hand.  Syringing, a practice of light water applications to help cool the surface will be the mode of action.
Bare with us these next few days, and keep in mind the guys pulling hose and watering are just helping keep the turf sustainable and aren't trying to get in your way.

Extended forecast.

Fan in position on the 13th hole.
