Adding Up Snow Accumulations

What a winter we have shaping up.  Starting New Year's Eve we witnessed a snow storm which deposited around 12" of snow throughout the club.  Been quite sometime since we've seen a storm produce that much.  I'm happy to see the blanket back on the course although it does raise slight concern for the ice that accumulated prior to heavy snow.  We'll continue to monitor weather and make necessary proactive measures if needed.  In the mean time we'll enjoy the coverage.

As you can see from the photos a good deal of snow sits throughout the course.  Kaylor and I enjoyed a morning adventure covering her with snow.

With the snow as of late the crew has been busy moving snow and salting.  Although that has consumed a good amount of time we've still made great progress on our other winter tasks.  Matt continues to move through our equipment maintenance with Moe's assistance.  Matt recently finished installing new reels in all our greens mowers.  Reels are one the major cutting components along with the bedknife.  Below is a photo of a greens mower with the new reel freshly sharpened and ready to go:

Jorge and Refugio are responsible for our course accessory refinishing and they're doing a phenomenal job.  Refugio recent finished sanding and staining all the tee markers.  He has now moved on to refinishing all the bronze tee plaques.  Believe he should be wrapping them up next week.  Jorge has had a little more time consuming job with paint removal on the ballwasher stands.  Years and years of paint were layered on them so best removal methods involved a great deal of hand work.  When ballwashers are all said and done they will look like new.  Below you can see photos of the work these guys are doing:

In the photo above the 10th hole plaques is finished and the 11th is part way through the process.
