2017 Opening Day has arrived. Not as exciting as the Cubs opening day on Monday will be but the energy is still high. Couldn't ask for better weather either. Clear skies and a light breeze will do wonders for drying out the saturated ground. A big round of applause for our Grounds Staff as they have braved the elements the last few weeks to keep moving forward. We are thankful too as they all volunteered to come in both days this weekend to get caught up on much needed tasks like mowing. This past week was disastrous when it came to opportunities to get playing surfaces mowed. In all things look great. Greens have been mowed and rolled, approaches and tees mowed, bunkers raked, fairways will be mowed on Sunday, tee markers out, and pins in the greens. And we are off!!!!
Next week will be a very busy for us. We have a lot to get caught up on and projects to get finished. Finishing the Gold tee on #17 will be our main goal for projects. Rough shaping is complete now we need to move some mix around and then sod. Hopes are that we are finished by the end of the week. Weather looks to be cooperating so we should be in good shape. Along with projects we have normal maintenance tasks to carry out. Our second application of Plant Growth Regulators need done to control seed heads of Poa Annua. The first application was done 17 days ago. Along with spraying we are looking to spread our spring fertilizer application in the rough along with doing some topdressing to greens. Our fingers are crossed that the forecast stays true and we can have a knock out week!
