When weather is hot and humid we try our best to limit the amount of water applied to the golf course. We are very cautious with timing and amount, if not careful it's like throwing fuel on a fire. As the week went on and the humidity stayed high and we continued to add just enough moisture to cool the plant, syringing the turf rather than actually "watering". This came up to bite us Friday as the low soil moisture accelerated the drying out as the sun warmed and wind picked up. Lots of sprinklers were used later in the day as well as crew members dragging hose hitting hot spots, and for the most part we kept up.
